SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/horse-grooming-order
In the usual grooming order, which tool comes first?
The curry comb, then dandy brush, body brush, mane comb, hoof pick, cloth.
- Hoof pick
- Curry comb ✔
- Cloth
Why: The curry comb loosens mud and dirt, and the brushes then sweep it away. The soft body brush and cloth come later for the finishing touches. Always pick out the hooves before you finish.
Huh, didn't know that: The Oregon 4-H guide says to clean the back and girth area well so the horse won't get sores from the saddle and girth.
How do horses communicate over long distances? Horse code.
