Why should you never shoot at an animal standing on top of a ridge?

You cannot see what is beyond it, so you cannot know where the shot will stop.

  1. The animal can hear you better up high
  2. Shots always fall short uphill
  3. You cannot see what is on the other side ✔

Why: Be sure of your target and what is beyond it. An animal on a ridge or hilltop has only sky behind it, and anything could be over the crest. Without a safe backstop, you pass the shot.

Huh, didn't know that: Hunter education teaches you to look for a safe backstop, like a hillside, behind every target.

The dad joke
Why did the hill get invited to every party? It always had a great view.
