SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/pilot-acute-fatigue-cure
According to the FAA, what normally cures acute fatigue?
Rest and about 8 hours of sound sleep.
- A cup of coffee before the flight
- Breathing extra oxygen in flight
- Rest and 8 hours of sound sleep ✔
Why: Acute fatigue is the short-term tiredness you feel after hard work, excitement or too little sleep. The PHAK says rest and 8 hours of sound sleep ordinarily cure it. If you feel it, stay on the ground.
Huh, didn't know that: Chronic fatigue, which lasts a long time, is not fixed by diet and rest and may need a doctor.
Why did the tired pilot stay on the ground? He did not want to fall asleep at the wheel, or the yoke.
