SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/pilot-hypoxic-hypoxia
Which type of hypoxia comes from the lower pressure of oxygen at high altitude?
Hypoxic hypoxia.
- Hypemic hypoxia
- Hypoxic hypoxia ✔
- Histotoxic hypoxia
Why: The percentage of oxygen stays the same as you climb, but its pressure drops. Fewer oxygen molecules pass into the blood, so the whole body gets too little oxygen.
Huh, didn't know that: The AIM encourages using supplemental oxygen above 10,000 feet during the day and above 5,000 feet at night.
Oxygen and potassium went on a date. It went OK.
