SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/pilot-hypemic-hypoxia-carbon-monoxide
Carbon monoxide from a leaky cabin heater causes which type of hypoxia?
Hypemic hypoxia, because the blood can't carry oxygen.
- Hypoxic hypoxia
- Stagnant hypoxia
- Hypemic hypoxia ✔
Why: Carbon monoxide attaches to hemoglobin about 200 times more easily than oxygen. The blood then cannot carry enough oxygen to the cells. Hypemic means 'not enough blood.'
Huh, didn't know that: The body can take up to 48 hours to get rid of carbon monoxide.
What did the air vent say to the fresh air? Come on in!
