SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/pilot-beacon-white-green
A lighted civilian land airport's rotating beacon flashes which colors?
White and green.
- White and yellow
- Green, yellow, and white
- White and green ✔
Why: The AIM lists white and green for civilian land airports. White and yellow marks a water airport, and green, yellow, and white marks a heliport. Military airports add two quick white flashes.
Huh, didn't know that: The AIM warns pilots not to rely on the beacon alone to decide whether weather is VFR or IFR.
How many pilots does it take to change a light bulb? One. He holds it and the world revolves around him.
