SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/pilot-photo-id-required
Besides a pilot certificate, what must a private pilot have on hand when flying as pilot in command?
A photo ID, such as a driver's license, along with the certificate.
- A photo ID, such as a driver's license ✔
- A passport, for every flight
- A copy of the pilot's logbook
Why: The rule says a required pilot must have a photo ID in their physical possession or readily accessible in the aircraft. A state driver's license is one of the accepted kinds.
Huh, didn't know that: A government-issued ID card from the federal government or a state also counts as photo identification.
Why did the pilot bring a driver's license to the airport? In case the plane asked to see some ID before takeoff.
