SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/safety-large-hail-away-windows
During a severe hailstorm, where should people inside a building move?
Move away from windows.
- Beside a skylight
- Onto an open porch
- Away from windows ✔
Why: Large hail can break glass. Interior areas away from windows reduce exposure to broken glass and wind-driven hail.
Huh, didn't know that: The NWS says the largest hail usually falls near the most dangerous part of the storm for tornadoes.
