SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/scout-hot-desert-schedule
When should you do necessary work in a hot, dry desert?
Work in the cool evening or early morning.
- At high noon
- In the evening or early morning ✔
- Only after midnight
Why: Rest in a high, shady place during the hottest part of the day. Do necessary work when temperatures are cooler to reduce heat stress and water loss.
Huh, didn't know that: Desert nights can become cold enough to require clothing and shelter.
The desert keeps an early schedule because noon is overbooked with heat.
