SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/scout-two-half-hitches
What are two half hitches used for?
Tying a rope to something, like a post, tree or ring.
- Joining two ropes end to end
- Shortening a rope without cutting it
- Tying a rope to a post, tree or ring ✔
Why: A hitch is a knot that ties a rope to an object. Two half hitches make a loop around a tree, ring or dock that you can slide bigger or smaller.
Huh, didn't know that: Scout Life notes two half hitches are often used to tie guy lines onto a dining fly.
What did the boat say to the dock? Let's get hitched.
