SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/scout-visible-survival-shelter
While you wait for rescue, where should you set up a tent or tarp?
Put it where air and ground rescuers can see it.
- Under the thickest brush
- Inside a narrow ravine
- Where rescuers can see it ✔
Why: A shelter can double as a signal. If conditions are safe, make its location obvious from the air and from the ground.
Huh, didn't know that: If your shelter is hidden, like a snow cave, tie spare clothing to tree branches to mark it.
Why did the tarp wave? It wanted to be outstanding in its field.
