SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/sec-offline-backups
CISA says to keep which kind of backups of critical data?
Offline, encrypted backups.
- Offline, encrypted backups ✔
- Backups on the same server
- Printed backups only
Why: If a backup is always connected, ransomware can reach it and lock it too. An offline, encrypted copy stays safe so you can restore without paying.
Huh, didn't know that: CISA says to backup data often, offline or with cloud-to-cloud backups.
I don't trust those cloud providers. Too much shady storage.
