At Extreme (level 5) avalanche danger, what is the travel advice?
Avoid all avalanche terrain.
- Ski only north-facing slopes
- Avoid all avalanche terrain ✔
- Go in a big group
Why: At Extreme danger, natural and human-triggered avalanches are certain. The only safe plan is to stay out of avalanche terrain and run-out zones.
Huh, didn't know that: At High (level 4), avalanche.org says you don't have to be on a steep slope to be hit by a slide that starts above you.
Why did Frosty go to the middle of the big lake? Because snow man's an island.
