SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/ski-hypothermia-warm-core
When warming someone with hypothermia, where does heat go first?
The center of the body: neck, chest and groin.
- Arms and legs
- Neck, chest and groin ✔
- Hands and feet
Why: Warm the core first and handle the person gently. Heating or massaging the arms and legs can strain the heart and lungs.
Huh, didn't know that: Mayo Clinic says not to give cigarettes either, because tobacco interferes with the circulation needed for rewarming.
What do you call a snowman on rollerblades? A snowmobile.
