SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/ski-stop-visible
Where is it safe to stop on a ski trail?
Where others can see you from above and traffic is not blocked.
- Where you are visible from above and not blocking traffic ✔
- Just below a roll in the slope
- In the middle of a narrow trail
Why: Skiers coming down need time to see you. Resting at the trail edge, in plain view, keeps everyone safe.
Huh, didn't know that: Swiss and international FIS rules say the same: stop only at the edge of the piste or in places with a clear view.
