A router forwards packets from one network to another.
- Render web pages for every client
- Assign every Ethernet MAC address
- Forward packets between networks ✔
Why: A router connects network segments and chooses where to forward IP packets next. It examines network-layer addressing rather than merely repeating every signal.
Huh, didn't know that: A router's forwarding table maps destination prefixes to next hops or outgoing interfaces.
