Oxy-fuel cutting is mainly used on which kind of metal?
Ferrous metals such as carbon steel.
- Ferrous metals, like carbon steel ✔
- Aluminum
- Copper and brass
Why: The oxygen jet reacts with the iron in carbon steel to cut it. Miller says oxy-fuel is generally not used on cast iron, aluminum or stainless steel.
Huh, didn't know that: Oxy-fuel can cut steel 6 to 12 inches thick, and some systems cut over 20 inches.
I don't lightly interfere; I heavy metal.
