SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/aplus-dhcp-server-port
Which port number does a DHCP server listen on?
Port 67 for the server, and port 68 for the client.
- 68
- 53
- 67 ✔
Why: DHCP servers use port 67, the old Bootstrap Protocol server port. Clients use port 68. DNS is 53, so do not mix them up.
Huh, didn't know that: The IANA registry names port 67 'Bootstrap Protocol Server' and port 68 'Bootstrap Protocol Client'.
Why did the router and modem fall in love? They had a great connection.
