SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/bike-clipless-cleats
What does a clipless pedal need on your shoe?
A cleat in the sole that clips into the pedal.
- Flat rubber soles
- Toe clips and straps
- A cleat on the shoe sole ✔
Why: Clipless pedals lock onto a cleat or special fitting on the bottom of the shoe. The odd name means there is no toe clip.
Huh, didn't know that: Mountain bike cleats sit recessed in the sole so you can still walk in the shoes.
Why are clipless pedals confusing? You clip into them, but there are no clips.
