SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/bike-helmet-cpsc-label
Bike helmets sold in the US must carry a label saying they meet whose safety standard?
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
- The Department of Transportation (DOT)
- The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) ✔
- The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
Why: Look inside a bike helmet for a label that says it complies with the US CPSC safety standard for bicycle helmets. A DOT sticker is for motorcycle helmets, a different test.
Huh, didn't know that: Toddler helmets have their own label: 'Age 1 and Older (Extended Head Coverage)', which covers more of the head.
My helmet passed its safety test with flying colors. It's really heads above the rest.
