SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/boat-storm-sign-temp-drop
While you're out on the water, which sign warns that a storm may be coming?
A sudden drop in temperature can mean a storm is near.
- Clearing skies
- A sudden drop in temperature ✔
- A rising barometer
Why: A quick temperature drop often comes with an approaching storm, and it is on the Coast Guard's list of warning signs. Clearing skies and a rising barometer usually mean fair weather.
Huh, didn't know that: The Coast Guard also lists a halo around the sun or moon as a sign of changing weather.
What did the thermometer say to the graduated cylinder? You may have graduated, but I have more degrees.
