SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/cadet-counting-cadence
Why does an instructor count cadence?
Counting helps teach coordination and rhythm.
- To replace every command
- To teach coordination and rhythm ✔
- To choose element leaders
Why: A clear repeated count helps an inexperienced unit keep the same beat. As the unit improves, it should need fewer reminders to stay in step.
Huh, didn't know that: Cadence is counted HUT, TOOP, THREEP, FOURP in sets of two, without singing.
Why did cadence count to four twice? It liked an encore.
