SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/cadet-face-in-marching
What does face in marching allow from a halt?
It begins a flank or column-left movement from a halt.
- A salute while seated
- A moving turn from a halt ✔
- A change to close interval
Why: The cadet pivots 90 degrees and steps into the new direction in one count. This connects a stationary start directly to a marching turn.
Huh, didn't know that: When moving right, the left foot crosses over the right during the step-off.
Why did the face start marching? It wanted to turn an idea into action.
