SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/cdl-class-c-passengers-hazmat
A smaller vehicle needs a Class C CDL when it carries hazmat that needs placards or how many people?
16 or more, counting the driver.
- 9 or more, counting the driver
- 20 or more, not counting the driver
- 16 or more, counting the driver ✔
Why: Class C covers vehicles too light for Class A or B that are designed to carry 16 or more people including the driver, or that haul hazardous materials. Many church and hotel shuttle buses fall here.
Huh, didn't know that: The count includes the driver, so a bus built for 15 riders plus the driver already needs a CDL.
Why do shuttle drivers make good comedians? Great delivery at every stop.
