SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/civics-three-branches
Name the three branches of government.
Legislative, executive, and judicial.
- Federal, state, and local
- Senate, House, and President
- Legislative, executive, and judicial ✔
Why: The legislative branch (Congress) makes laws, the executive (President) carries them out, and the judicial (courts) reviews them. Federal, state, and local are levels of government, not branches.
Huh, didn't know that: Article I of the Constitution covers Congress, Article II the executive, and Article III the courts.
What do you call a tree that runs the country? The executive branch, of course.
