There are three branches of government. Why?
So one part does not become too powerful.
- So each region gets its own branch

- To make laws pass faster
Why: Splitting power three ways keeps any one part from taking over. USCIS also accepts checks and balances or separation of powers.
Huh, didn't know that: French thinker Montesquieu popularized the idea of separating government powers, and the framers read his work.
Why did the tree join the government? It wanted to be one of the branches.
