SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/drone-part107-for-business
A real estate agent flies a drone to photograph a listing. Which rules apply?
Part 107, because the flight is for business.
- Part 107, with a Remote Pilot Certificate ✔
- Recreational rules, with a TRUST certificate
- No rules, if the drone is under 55 pounds
Why: Flying for work or business is not recreational. The FAA says anyone flying for commercial, government or other non-recreational purposes must follow Part 107 as a certificated remote pilot.
Huh, didn't know that: Part 107 covers small unmanned aircraft weighing less than 55 pounds on takeoff.
Why did the drone go to business school? It wanted its career to really take off.
