Where may a registered drone without Remote ID equipment legally fly?

At a FRIA, an FAA-Recognized Identification Area.

  1. At an FAA-Recognized Identification Area (FRIA) ✔
  2. Anywhere in Class G airspace
  3. Anywhere below 200 feet

Why: Remote ID can be met three ways: a Standard Remote ID drone, a broadcast module, or flying at a FRIA. A FRIA is a defined area where drones without Remote ID may fly.

Huh, didn't know that: Part 89 has required Remote ID for flights after September 16, 2023, covering every drone that must be registered.

The dad joke
Why did the drone with no Remote ID go to the FRIA? It wanted to fly without having to introduce itself.
