SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/drone-temperature-dew-point-spread-fog
The temperature and dew point are only 1 degree apart. What should you expect?
Fog or low clouds are likely because the air is nearly saturated.
- Clear skies and great visibility
- Strong, gusty winds
- Fog or low clouds are likely ✔
Why: Dew point is the temperature where air can't hold more moisture. When the temperature drops close to it, water condenses into fog, low clouds or precipitation.
Huh, didn't know that: Dew forms on cool, clear, calm nights; if it's below freezing, you get frost instead, which must be cleaned off before flight.
What did the thermometer say to the graduated cylinder? You may have graduated, but I've got more degrees.
