In a box fill calculation, each 14 AWG conductor counts as how many cubic inches?
2 cubic inches for each 14 AWG conductor.
- 2.0 cubic inches ✔
- 1.5 cubic inches
- 2.5 cubic inches
Why: Table 314.16(B) assigns a volume to each conductor size. 14 AWG gets 2 cubic inches, and 12 AWG gets 2.25.
Huh, didn't know that: Pigtails that start and end inside the box don't count toward box fill at all.
Why did the 14 AWG wire feel crowded? The box was filling up fast.
