SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/epa-remove-solderless-fittings
What should a technician do with solderless access fittings after finishing a small appliance service?
Remove them at the end of service.
- Remove them ✔
- Leave them for the next visit
- Cover them with electrical tape
Why: Solderless access fittings are temporary tools for getting to the refrigerant. EPA's Type I test topics say to remove them when the service is done.
Huh, didn't know that: Type I safety topics also include the decomposition products of refrigerants at high temperatures.
Dad, can you put my shoes on? I don't think they'll fit me.
