What makes a piece of recovery equipment 'system-dependent'?
It relies on the appliance's own components, such as its compressor.
- It only recovers liquid refrigerant
- It can only be used on one brand of appliance
- It needs components in the appliance to remove the refrigerant ✔
Why: System-dependent (passive) equipment cannot pull refrigerant out by itself. It depends on the appliance's own parts to help. Self-contained equipment has its own means, so it works without the appliance.
Huh, didn't know that: Self-contained equipment can remove refrigerant 'without the assistance of components contained in the appliance'.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman where the Self Help section was. She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
