SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/fish-walleye-dusk
When is walleye fishing usually best?
In low light, like dawn or dusk.
- In bright midday sun
- Only at noon
- In low light ✔
Why: Walleye have a light-gathering layer in their eyes, so they hunt well in dim light. Baitfish move out of cover then too.
Huh, didn't know that: Iowa DNR says many fish are most active at dawn or dusk, called crepuscular times.
What fish sounds like a telephone? Herring, herring... herring, herring.
