SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/hunt-fair-chase
In hunter education, what does fair chase balance?
The hunter's skills and gear against the animal's ability to escape.
- The hunter's skill and gear versus the animal's chance to escape ✔
- The number of hunters versus the number of animals
- The price of a license versus the value of the meat
Why: Fair chase means not taking unfair advantage of game. The animal should have a real chance to get away. People who approve of hunting expect hunters to practice it.
Huh, didn't know that: A practice can be legal and still unethical, like shooting ducks on a lake with no boat or dog to retrieve them.
How do deer get rich? They save their bucks.
