SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/hunt-hypothermia-umbles
Hunter education teaches the 'umbles' as warning signs of what?
Hypothermia: stumbles, mumbles, fumbles and grumbles.
- Heat exhaustion
- Dehydration
- Hypothermia ✔
Why: Hypothermia happens when the body loses heat faster than it makes it. It comes on so gradually that people often don't realize they need help, so watch partners for clumsiness, slurred speech and bad moods.
Huh, didn't know that: Treatment starts with getting out of the wind, removing wet clothes and putting on dry ones.
What do you call a dog in winter? A chili dog.
