What is the lowest decision altitude an LPV approach can have?
As low as 200 feet above touchdown.
- As low as 50 feet above touchdown
- As low as 400 feet above touchdown
- As low as 200 feet above touchdown ✔
Why: LPV uses WAAS to give ILS-like angular guidance. Where terrain and airport infrastructure allow, the decision altitude can be as low as 200 feet height above touchdown with visibility as low as one half mile.
Huh, didn't know that: In ICAO terms LPV counts as an approach with vertical guidance, not a precision approach.
WAAS is just GPS with a good support system.
