What are the standard IFR takeoff minimums for aircraft with two engines or less?
One statute mile visibility.
- One statute mile ✔
- One-half statute mile
- Two statute miles
Why: The AIM says standard takeoff minimums are one statute mile for aircraft having two engines or less. Aircraft with more than two engines use a lower minimum.
Huh, didn't know that: Higher than standard ceiling and visibility minimums let pilots see and avoid obstacles during the initial climb.
Every takeoff is optional. Every landing is mandatory.
