Why don't most women get bulky from lifting weights?
They have much less testosterone, a key ingredient for big muscle growth.
- Their muscles can't get stronger
- They naturally have much less testosterone ✔
- Weights work differently for women
Why: The NSCA says testosterone is a necessary ingredient for increasing muscle size, and levels are naturally much higher in males. Women get strong from lifting without building huge muscles by accident.
Huh, didn't know that: The NSCA notes that, unit for unit, men and women have the same ability to produce force.
I was worried lifting would make me bulky. Then I saw my bank account. Definitely not bulky.
