SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/osha-crane-power-line-clearance-10-feet
Once the voltage is known, how close may a crane get to a power line of up to 50 kV?
10 feet minimum clearance for lines up to 50 kV.
- 6 feet
- 10 feet ✔
- 15 feet
Why: Table A in 1926.1408 sets a 10 foot minimum clearance for lines up to 50 kV. Higher voltages need more room.
Huh, didn't know that: Another allowed option is to keep the crane, load line and load at least 20 feet from the line.
Why did the crane stay 10 feet away? It did not want to spark conversation.
