Show the answer
1970. The OSH Act created OSHA, which is part of the U.S. Department of Labor. OSHA sets and enforces workplace safety and health rules.
- Which part of the OSH Act makes employers keep the workplace free from recognized serious hazards, even without a specific rule?
Show the answer
The General Duty Clause. Section 5(a)(1) is called the General Duty Clause. It covers recognized hazards likely to cause death or serious harm, so OSHA can act even when no specific standard fits.
- Under the OSH Act, do workers have any legal duty to follow OSHA safety rules?
