SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/pb-serve-diagonal
Where must a pickleball serve go?
Diagonally, to the service court across from you.
- Diagonally to the opposite service court ✔
- Straight ahead to the court in front of you
- Anywhere past the net
Why: You serve crosscourt, from your side to the service court diagonally opposite. A serve that lands in the wrong court is a fault.
Huh, didn't know that: Serving diagonally gives the ball a longer path, so the receiver has more time to react.
Why did the pickleball cross the court diagonally? It was taking the scenic route.
