SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/pilot-class-b-atc-clearance
What must a VFR pilot receive before entering Class B airspace?
An ATC clearance.
- An ATC clearance ✔
- A transponder code only
- A weather briefing from flight service
Why: Rule 91.131 requires an ATC clearance from the facility controlling the area before operating in Class B. Just talking to ATC or getting a squawk code is not enough.
Huh, didn't know that: Class B also requires a two-way radio and a transponder with altitude reporting and ADS-B Out.
What do you call a bee that can't make up its mind? A maybe.
