SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/pilot-class-e-base-1200
In most areas of the US, Class E airspace begins at what height?
1,200 feet AGL in most areas.
- 700 feet AGL
- 1,200 feet AGL ✔
- 18,000 feet MSL
Why: The FAA handbook says the Class E base is 1,200 feet AGL in most areas. Near many airports it drops to 700 feet AGL or to the surface. Below Class E is uncontrolled Class G airspace.
Huh, didn't know that: All airspace above FL 600 is also Class E airspace.
What starts with E, ends with E, and has only one letter in it? An envelope.
