What does the IMSAFE checklist help a pilot check before a flight?

Their own physical and mental readiness to fly.

  1. Their own physical and mental readiness ✔
  2. The airplane's airworthiness papers
  3. The weather along the route

Why: IMSAFE stands for Illness, Medication, Stress, Alcohol, Fatigue and Emotion. It is a quick personal self-check. If any item is a problem, the pilot should rethink or cancel the flight.

Huh, didn't know that: The FAA calls fatigue one of the most insidious hazards to flight safety.

The dad joke
Why couldn't the bicycle stand up by itself? It was two tired.
