SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/pilot-pave-checklist
In the FAA's PAVE risk checklist, what does the V stand for?
enVironment.
- Visibility
- enVironment ✔
- VFR conditions
Why: PAVE sorts flight risks into four groups: Pilot-in-command, Aircraft, enVironment and External pressures. Looking at each one before a flight helps a pilot spot hazards and set personal minimums.
Huh, didn't know that: PAVE is used in the Perceive step of the FAA's Perceive, Process, Perform (3P) decision model.
Why do pilots love checklists? They keep everything in line.
