Which burn needs 911 or the emergency room, not just home care?

A burn on the face or hands, or larger than about 3 inches.

  1. A burn on the face or hands ✔
  2. A small red spot from a marshmallow
  3. A one-inch burn on the arm

Why: Mayo Clinic says to get emergency help for burns larger than about 3 inches, burns that look charred or leathery, or burns on the face, hands, feet, genitals or a major joint.

Huh, didn't know that: A burn that wraps all the way around an arm or leg also needs emergency care.

The dad joke
Why did the marshmallow go to the doctor? It was feeling a little toasted.
