SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/scout-permethrin-clothes
Where should you use permethrin to keep ticks away?
On clothing and gear, not on skin.
- On your bare skin
- On clothing and gear ✔
- In your drinking water
Why: The CDC says to treat clothing and gear like boots and tents with products containing 0.5% permethrin. For skin, use an EPA-registered repellent like DEET or picaridin.
Huh, didn't know that: Permethrin-treated clothing can stay protective through several washings.
What do you call a tick on a shirt? A fashion bug.
