SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/scuba-buddy-plan-slower-diver
When dive buddies make their plan, whose ability should it be based on?
The slower or less experienced diver.
- The faster, more experienced diver
- The slower or less experienced diver ✔
- Whoever has the bigger tank
Why: A plan built for the less experienced diver keeps the whole team inside its comfort zone. Buddies agree on depth, time and pace before the dive and stay close enough to help each other.
Huh, didn't know that: PADI's golden rules say no matter how experienced you are, never dive without a buddy.
A good dive buddy is like a remora. Always close, never clingy.
