SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/soc-two-yellows
What happens to a player who gets a second yellow card in the same match?
They are sent off, which is shown with a red card.
- They are sent off ✔
- They sit out 10 minutes
- Nothing more, two are allowed
Why: Receiving a second caution in the same match is a sending-off offence. The team then plays with one fewer player.
Huh, didn't know that: Cautions from the match do not carry over into a penalty shoot-out.
Why did the second yellow card turn red? It was embarrassed for the player.
