SESK: Stuff Everyone Should Know · sesk.info/solar-inverter-replace-once
How often should you expect an inverter to need replacing during a 25-year PV array's life?
At least once.
- Never, they last forever
- At least once ✔
- Every single year
Why: Panels have no moving parts, but inverters work hard converting DC to AC and wear out sooner. Budget for a replacement in the system's life.
Huh, didn't know that: DOE says a single inverter is generally less expensive and easier to cool and service than microinverters on every panel.
Why do transformers hum? They don't know the words!
